Clinical research trials help pharmaceutical companies learn more about investigational drugs before they are made available to the public.  The results of research studies provide more information about the safety and effectiveness of investigational drugs.

People decide to participate in studies for a variety of reasons.  Healthy volunteers may take part to help others and to contribute to understanding more about an investigational drug.  People with an illness or disease may also take part to help others and to help researchers see if an investigational drug is safe and effective for their illness or disease.

By participating in a clinical study, you would be contributing to research.
